capital gains

Capital gains are taxable at a rate of 10%.

( Value of the transfer -expenses ) – ( value of the acquisition + expenses ) = amount of the capital gains or losses

Income taxes paid abroad can be credited. ( Art.48 IRPF), except if  imposed on income not taxable in Andorra as described below.

Capital gains on foreign properties owned for more than 10 years are exempt ( Art. 5.m  IRPF )

Capital gains from holdings in the share capital of companies representing more than 25% but owned for more than 10 years are exempt .  ( art. 5.k.§2 IRPF )

Capital gains from shares or from participations in any sort of collective investment entity  representing less than 25 % of their capital within the twelve months preceding the moment of transmission are exempt. ( art.5.k.§1 IRPF )

This exemption does not apply to other financial instruments like bonds or options.

The starting point for capital gains is the value on the 31 of december 2014.
